On reopening Open Office, the red underlines had gone and the only other thing that has changed is the history of 'recently opened' files has been deleted I very reluctantly (I am by no means comfortable with understanding how computers work & was scared of 'interfering' with the system and making things even worse) made the changes required to be able to rename my 'user profile' (to 'user.old')
I "Google'd" 'why has Open Office Spell Checker stopped working' and followed Hagar Delests' posts to ascertain that I needed to reset my user profile (see post of 29-Nov-12 10:45) I couldn't get rid of them and using the spell checker just picked out every word as if it was misspelled However yesterday, all of a sudden all of my text (in spreadsheet and document = calc & writer) was underlined with wavy red lines. I have used Open Office for years and found it to be excellent I think /Tools is under Preferences on a Mac. greenbacks should be the only word flagged with a red wiggly underline, as far as I remember.Įdit: Note that the /Tools /Options paths will differ for Macs. Is English(UK) shown to left of centre on status bar? If so, type dt then press F3. I always suggest closing down computer and powering off. You may need to restart OpenOffice after making any of these correction, inclusing the Quickstarter.
